Transforming a traditional Arabic eatery into a contemporary Lebanese cafe and restaurant.
The brief was to redesign and reinvent an existing Lebanese restaurant, which enjoys a loyal following but was beginning to feel a little dated.
Working with celebrity chef Maroun Chedid, we wanted to create a light, airy, natural space that reflects Lebanon’s position as a crossroads between Europe and Arabia. The Olive Tree is the central design statement, and much of the green and white design language is inspired by this.
The custom designed ceiling motifs capture the flora and fauna of Lebanon and the UAE, a nod to the restaurant’s location in Sharjah. Like the design, the menu is Lebanese at its heart, but a very contemporary, original take infused with subtle references to the Gulf.
